Our Fall Intensive last week was an alive and nurturing experience for everyone who participated. Many instructors were here as students, as well as people new to Breema or to the Breema Center. One aspect of the Intensive that stood out clearly was how each instructor formulated in class about their understanding and experiences of doing Breema and working with the principles in their daily lives. The students jumped into the discussions, group experience exchanges, and question and answer periods with aliveness and receptivity.
This time we had an opportunity for students to receive Breema on Saturday evening. All of the instructors teaching in the Intensive came to give sessions. Several instructors mentioned the value of having a one-on-one exchange with some of the newer students and getting to know them before the Intensive really got rolling.
During the Intensive we had a meeting of all instructors who were here to support instructing Breema. We talked about all the Breema events that took place around the world in 2012, and about the upcoming global week of free Breema events January 12-19, 2013. There was a discussion about keeping the posture of a Breema instructor alive as we go through our day. It was suggested that we can keep abreast of what other instructors are doing by checking the Breema Center website, and calling that instructor before or after to give support. Next year we will have a whole day of class for instructors, the Friday following the last day of each Intensive.
While the Intensive was beginning, Mary and Denise were at the Divine Play AcroYoga Festival in San Francisco's Fort Mason Center, giving Breema sessions and teaching an introductory workshop to the attendees. In the midst of the many modalities going on at the Festival, Breema's emphasis on connecting to oneself first, then supporting others was met with interest and receptivity. It was amazing to me to experience the Breema atmosphere come alive in the midst of a very active environment. The connections that we made at the Festival are already bearing fruit, and we look forward to more exchanges and collaborations with that community.
Mary Cuneo and Dave Pratt gave a weekend workshop September 29-30 at True Nature, Dave's retreat center in the Ohio countryside. Mary gave this report:We did an open house two days before the workshop, speaking about Breema as we gave the mini-sessions, taking turns formulating to the others who were there. There was a lot of interest and many questions, and several people stayed for half an hour after the scheduled ending time, in order to ask more about Breema. Many of these attendees were yoga practitioners, and one joined the workshop for one day.
